Titans sign new prop

TITANS have signed Lewis Thiede for next season.

TITANS  have signed Lewis Thiede for next season.

The 23- years-old tighthead prop joins Rotherham from fellow Championship side London Scottish on a one year deal.

Doncaster born, Lewis has represented his home-town club and London Scottish in the Championship. Thiede joined London Scottish on a permanent deal in the summer of 2013, having spent the previous two seasons with them on a dual registration and loan agreement from his parent club London Wasps. At 6' 1" and 18 stones, Thiede will no doubt add the necessary physicality to the Titans front row next term.

Said Clifton lane coach Lee Blackett: "We've been aware of Lewis for a long time, going back to when he was at Doncaster, before he went to London Wasps. He's a guy who's got masses of potential and he's played a lot of Championship rugby as a young lad."

"He's probably been a little bit disappointed with the last couple of years, as he fell ill and had some injury issues. But he's still a young lad and his potential is huge. He wanted an opportunity to come back up North and he's exactly the type of player we want here. I also believe Lewis is capable of going a long way in the game and we are delighted that he has signed for Rotherham."

"Lewis will offer us great competition in the tighthead position; we've already signed Mark Tampin in that position and we'll be bringing in a third tighthead. The scrum is something this club prides itself on and we need to keep those values going at Clifton Lane; we feel that Lewis will make a real difference in that aspect of our game.”
