Titans crash to sixth straight defeat

COACH Mark Jones says that Rotherham Titans need to stop making elementary mistakes if they're to halt their current slide.

Titans went down 38-21 to Cornish Pirates at Clifton Lane, their sixth league and cup defeat on the spin after a lacklustre performance.

They did have three second half tries from Michael Keating, Sean Scanlon and Tom Holmes but they proved purely academic with the game already lost by then.

Jones was clearly frustrated afterwards.

He said: "Anyone who's listened to my comments over the past month must be sick of hearing me say the same things over and over again.

"We cannot commit the simple, fundamental errors in the game that we are making at the moment.

"Some of our kicking was so naieve in the early part of the game that we just gave the Pirates 21 points.

"On that back of that, we had opportunities in the last third and we didn't capitalise.

"That's a huge momentum swing on a day when it was difficult to play rugby."

Titans now have a week off before resuming their B&I Cup campaign at home to Ealing on January 16.
