Thumbs-up from chairman

CHAIRMAN Tony Stewart has delivered a glowing assessment on Rotherham United's winning start and the improvement under manager Andy Scott.

The new-look Millers have shot out of the traps with three wins from three and remain the only team in League Two with a 100 per cent record after two away wins in a week at P

Plymouth last weekend and Crewe on Tuesday night.

Stewart has made the resources available for another promotion push this season, paving the way for nine new signings, but admits he has been pleasantly surprised by the start.

He told the Advertiser: "We're not getting carried away. We knew the effort and preparation put in by the manager, his staff and the players would show itself on the pitch but I am gobsmacked that it has come sooner rather than later.

"Nine new guys have come in. They've bonded and are playing for us as though they have been here a long time and it's a credit to the management team for that.

"There's been a transformation and it's a different team now. It's not just a team of footballers but a group of super fit individuals who have the right mindset to take forward and that has been borne out in the games so far.

"We're not saying we are going to do this or that but this side looks good enough to make a strong challenge."

The Millers take on Barnet at Don Valley Stadium tomorrow and then have a week's break before another home game against Gillingham.
