Sporting chance to help flood victims

A LEADING cricket league wants to help Pakistani flood victims—with the help of Advertiser readers.

South Yorkshire Senior League chairman Richard Tong, in conjunction with Kookaburra Readers, is raffling a top-of-the-range cricket bat in aid of the Pakistan Flood Appeal.

He is looking to fill a board, which contains 110 boxes, at a fiver a time, thus raising 550 which will go to the Save the Children arm of the worldwide appeal.

Richard said: After seeing the terrible TV pictures of suffering children, I felt the need to do something.

This contribution may only be a small one but any amount will help the cause.

Over the years we have developed friendships with many players from Pakistan in the SYSCL and it seems right that the local cricket fraternity should contribute to the appeal.

Please call Richard on 07868 848185 to discuss how you can have a go at what is a very worthy raffle.

Once the board is full Richard will visit the Advertiser office to make the draw.
