Spanish boost for boxer Nav

BOXER Nav Mansouri has been pumping up his British title fight preparations with some warm weather training in Spain.

This weekend the super welterweight returns from a two-week stint at the MGM Marbella gym, where he's been staying and working with WBA World Lightweight champion Derry Mathews.

Mansouri must overcome unbeaten title holder Liam Williams if he's to become the champion.

The original fight was due to take place in Liverpool last weekend until a viral injection struck down Williams.

But having originally been re-scheduled for March 12, it will now take pride of place on a bill at London's Harrow Leisure Centre on Saturday, April 2 and screened live on BoxNation.

That's fine by Nav, who is intent on causing a massive shock and becoming Rotherham's first British boxing champion in nearly 100 years.

“I was ready for the first date and I'm still ready,” he said. “After the change of date, I came out to Marbella for something different.

“I've been looked after really well and the atmosphere is really good. I'm on point with my weight and I'm up for this fight.”
