Skarz joins Millers

ROTHERHAM United chief Steve Evans says he is delighted to have captured defender Joe Skarz from Bury.

The 23-year-old made a loans deadline day switch to the New York Stadium yesterday and will sign a two-year contract.

Evans rates Skarz as one of the best three left-backs in League One and said his capture had ended a long search.

"The lad is well thought of. He's big, strong and athletic and we're pleased to have him," he added.

Skarz started out as a trainee at Huddersfield and had loan spells at Hartlepool and Shrewsbury before joining Bury, helping them to promotion two years ago.

He is expected to be available for today's League Two clash against AFC Wimbledon at the New York Stadium (3pm).
