Shaw fights back to win

BOXER Martin Shaw made it three straight pro wins at Doncaster Dome\_but only after surviving two first round scares.

The 19-year-old Millennium Boxing Club light welterweight was caught twice by tough Londoner Johnny Greaves on Friday night’s show but hit back to win the next three rounds and take a 39-37 points win.

And coach Jamie Kennedy reckons the first round will have taught his protege a hard lesson as he makes his way in the game.

Greaves is a tricky opponent and even though Martin’s workrate was good in the opening round he let his defence down and was caught by two hooks,” he said.

Greaves admitted aftewards that he thought he could end it and I was worried in the corner, but Martin survived the round and knew where he’d gone wrong.

“He went out and the remaining rounds were fantastic."
