Sharps leaves Millers

DEFENDER Ian Sharps has left Rotherham United by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old was brought back to the club from Shrewsbury Town by manager Steve Evans last summer but spent the second half of the season on loan at Burton Albion.

With Sharps not expected to figure predominently next term, the Millers manager said it would be beneficial for all parties to allow him to further his career elsewhere.

He added: "I would like to thank Ian for the effort and commitment he has given this club. He and his young family will always be welcome as my guest at the New York Stadium."
