Scott salutes battling win

MANAGER Andy Scott insists the Millers have the battling qualities to be competitive in League Two this season after seeing his side start with three straight wins.

The Millers grounded out a 2-1 win at Crewe Alexandra last night with a goal in each half from Adam Le Fondre—his third in two games—and substitute Ben Pringle.

But it was the resilience of the team that stood out as they withstood strong pressure to bag the points and maintain what is now the only 100 per cent record in League Two.

Scott said: "If you buckle it's a sign of weakness but the players are prepared to battle for each other and put their bodies on the line and they enjoy doing that and it shows the different mentality we have got here now.

"Sometimes in this league you've got to go away and graft and be solid and organised and not play great but get a result. The three points were as good as, if not better, than Saturday's at Plymouth because of the travelling and the work we've had to do with the same side.

"I'm proud of every one of them because it's been a tough start and we've got nine points."

The Millers chase a fourth straight win at home to Barnet on Saturday.
