Sales trend pleases chairman

MILLERS chairman Tony Stewart says there are encouraging pointers to him eventually pressing the button to expand the AESSEAL New York Stadium.

While season tickets sales have risen above 6,500, they are still a couple of thousand below the figure needed to justify taking the capacity up to 16,000.

The plans are already in place for the first phase of work, enlarging the kop and away end, and nothing would please the Millers' owner more than to have to put them into action.

He told the Advertiser: “These are the best season tickets sales we have had, even more than the first year (up in the Championship). We are above 6,500 now and it's climbing nicely.

“I'm a realistic person and although we are not at the 8,500 figure needed, it is going in the right direction. If we can keep that support and build on it then it is encouraging to know we have a line to hit and if we hit it then we extend the stadium.”
