Ronnie targets son Ian

RONNIE Moore watched the Millers kick off the new season with a win over Lincoln City on Saturday and then stepped up his search for a new striker.

An early strike from Adam Le Fondre and a late winner from new captain Ryan Cresswell sealed a 2-1 victory to get Rotherham's League Two campaign up and running.

Moore wants an experienced partner for Le Fondre and has confirmed an interest in his son, Ian Thomas-Moore, who has tabled a transfer request at Tranmere Rovers and scored for them on Saturday.

Said Moore: "If Tranmere are willing to let him go then I would imagine we would be favourites to bring him here.

"There is no doubt he would like to come and at this level he would be a wow. He's 33, going up for 34, but he's got pace and he scores goals.

"He played wide on the left all last year in a three and got 15 goals in a poor side. At the moment we just have to keep our options open and see what we can do."

As previously reported, the Millers have put an offer to Jon Macken, who is out of contract after being released by Barnsley.

Rotherham are also interested in former MK Dons striker Izale Mcleod.

They are away to Peterborough United tomorrow night (7.45pm) in the first round of the Carling Cup.
