Rallying call to fans

STEVE Evans has issued a mid-season rallying call to Millers supporters, saying: “We need you all with us.”

Rotherham host Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday (7.45pm) needing a win to launch a climb away from the lower reaches of the Championship.

Recent form has been patchy, the last 14 league matches producing just one win, but Evans says it is important that everyone throws their full vocal weight behind the team and rekindles the spirit of May's historic play-off final win at Wembley.

“Is the Bolton match bigger than Wembley? Yes it is,” he told the Advertiser. “We were dead and buried at half time in the play-off final. It was the positiveness, of everyone pulling on the same rope, that won us that game and we need that now.

“We're not going to give up what we fought for and if anyone thinks me or Paul Raynor or others at the club aren't losing sleep at the moment then they're wrong.

“This league is tough, it's a huge step up and we need to start winning, and what is happening at the moment only makes us more determined to get it right.

“Bolton will come expecting a subdued atmosphere so let's surprise them. I know it's cold but let's see everyone turn up and get right behind the team."
