Once the rush of midweek games is out of the way, manager Steve Evans intends to sit down with the 25-year-old and has made it clear he would like to keep him providing a financial deal can be struck that is acceptable to both parties.

Evans said: “We have Millwall here and Cardiff and then go to Huddersfield. After that there's a free week and that's when me and Ben will sit down and have coffee.

“I would love him to stay here and so would the board but they need to feel he fits into the structure and we get value for money.

“There's also a very important character here in Ben. He needs to feel he gets the type of deal that befits his ability and we feel he has great ability."
