Players reacted well, says Evans

ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans praised the battling qualities of his team after they fought back to earn a point at Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

The newly-promoted Millers' return to League One looked like ending on a downer when the home side took a 3-1 lead early in the second half only, for late strikes from Ben Pringle and Lee Frecklington to earn a share of the spoils.

Frecklington had also pegged back the home side with a swift reply after they had gone 2-0 up in the first nine minutes.

Evans said: "We dominated large parts of the game but our defending at times wasn’t good enough. I thought once the individual bad defending had settled down then we dominated and we’ve got a lot of good characters who reacted well, as they did last season. If we’re behind we are going to attack and we did that with some quality."

Attentions now turn to tomorrow's Capital One Cup first-round clash against Sheffield Wednesday at the New York Stadium.

Fans are reminded that no tickets will be available on the day of the game. Any remaining will be taken off sale at 12pm tomorrow.
