New signing on way, says Ronnie

ROTHERHAM United expect to make a new signing today as they bid to revive their faltering promotion push.

Speaking after last night's dismal 3-0 defeat Stevenage, manager Ronnie Moore promised that a new forward would be joining the club for an undisclosed fee but declined to name him.

Moore said: "We will have someone in today subject to a medical. It will be a player who will bring pace and ability.

"That will be a done deal and we might also have a defensive player in too because I'm not happy with the way we look at the back."

The Millers chief slammed his players having seen them crash to a third successive defeat.

A strike from Peter Winn just before half time gave Stevenage the advantage and two late goals from substitute Byron Harrison and Scott Laird rounded off the scoring as Rotherham struggled to mount a serious attack at the other end.

"It was spineless, gutless; an abysmal performance," said Moore.

"You can't have a display like that. We shouldn't go to Stevenage and come away losing 3-0."

The Millers dropped out of the top three as a result. Struggling Stockport County are the visitors to Don Valley Stadium on Saturday.
