Nardiello double seals win

ROTHERHAM United began their build-up to the new season with a 2-0 victory over Parkgate on Saturday.

Striker Daniel Nardiello scored both goals in the second half to settle the contest in front of 1,200 sun-drenched spectators at Roundwood.

Manager Steve Evans gave run-outs to all his summer signings, including latest recruit Michael Tidser, and made ten changes at half time.

After enjoying long spells of possession against a spirited Gate side, Rotherham took the lead just after the hour mark when Nardiello fired in from a good cross by new boy David Worrall.

The marksman wrapped up the win two minutes from the end with a sweet finish from the edge of the penalty area.

The Millers now embark on a three-game tour of Scotland, starting against Greenock Morton tomorrow (7.30pm)
