'Naive' Millers dip at home

ROTHERHAM United slipped to their first league defeat in eight games at the hands of Southend United at Don Valley Stadium on Saturday—much to the frustration of manager Ronnie Moore.

Two goals inside the first 13 minutes from Ryan Hall and Blair Sturrock left the Millers chasing the game and although Nick Fenton reduced the arrears in the second half, the visitors hung on for a 2-1 win.

Moore said: "We were naive. It doesn't matter who you are playing against, to concede two sloppy goals like we did gives you a mountain to climb and we weren't good enough to do that.

"We never really lifted the tempo and one or two are not quite on their game at the moment."

Wycombe's win at Lincoln City means the Millers slip to third in League Two, seven points behind leaders Chesterfield.

Rotherham travel to Wycombe on Saturday and may have one or two new faces by then.

They have decided not to extend the loan spell of right-back Danny Coid, set to be out for a few more weeks with an ankle ligament injury. He has returned to Blackpool.
