Mullins a big miss, says Liddell

ROTHERHAM United caretaker boss Andy Liddell has expressed his regret at losing defender Johnny Mullins for the rest of the season.

The centre-half will sit out the remainder of the campaign and the start of the next after suffering a bad knee injury in training last Friday.

One of the most consistent performers this season, Mullins will be missed as the Millers try to claw back lost ground in the League Two promotion race in the final five games.

Liddell said: "I feel for him because he's been a fantastic player and one of the best centre-halves in the league.

"We have capable deputies but we will miss him because he's a great lad and fantastic around the dressing room and I've a lot of time for him.

"His knee cap came out of place and went back in and I heard a crack.

"The diagnosis is six or seven months but hopefully he will be back before that with the staff we have here."

Rotherham's next game is at home to Hereford United on Saturday, with the experienced Nick Fenton and skipper Ryan Cresswell again set to form the central defensive pairing.
