Millers wait on Taylor

STRIKER Ryan Taylor is facing a race to be fit for Rotherham United's top-of-the-table clash against Shrewsbury Town tomorrow.

Taylor sat out the midweek win over Accrington Stanley due to the groin injury he picked in last weekend's defeat at Oxford United.

He didn't train yesterday and manager Ronnie Moore rates his chances of playing at 50-50.

He said: "We want to give him every chance so we'll leave the decision until the last minute."

Another absentee on Tuesday, Ian Thomas-Moore, is also set to miss out having pulled up on Monday with a hamstring problem.

Tomorrow is thought to be too early for a return and the manager's son could be one or even two weeks away from a return.

The Millers had expected to welcome skipper Ryan Cresswell back to the fold this weekend from a broken collar bone but those hopes were scuppered last Friday when he damaged his ankle ligaments in training.

Moore estimates that he will resume full training on Tuesday or Wednesday next week and would then need a practice game before he could be considered for a full return.

At the time of writing, the Millers chief was striving to bring Danny Coid back to the club from Blackpool for a further month.

Tomorrow's Don Valley Stadium clash pits second versus third, with the Millers knowing that a win would lift them above the visitors in the League Two table.
