Millers step up player search

ROTHERHAM United are stepping up their efforts to bring in fresh blood to replace Ryan Taylor and Nicky Law, both of whom are tipped to leave the club.

The pair have failed to take up the offer of new contracts, with reports linking midfielder Law with a move to Scunthorpe and Taylor with Millwall and Bristol City.

City are said to have moved into the box seat for the striker this week after upping their personal terms for the 23-year-old.

The Millers' chief operating officer Paul Douglas confirmed he expected Taylor and Law to move on and that manager Andy Scott would soon be adding to existing new signings, Ben Pringle from Derby County and Gareth Evans from Bradford City.

He said: "Andy Scott is aware we are going to have to replace them but we are also looking at central defence, the full-back positions, up front and in midfield in general.

"While he has been on holiday Andy has been talking to players and agents and while it is always nice to to sign players sooner rather than later, he is aware that we move from a seller's to a buyer's market as summer moves on.

"As the pre-season build-up approaches, players are more willing to sit down and talk about things realistically.

"We are talking to a Championship striker at the moment and there may some developments on that next week."
