Millers get back to business

ROTHERHAM United reported back for pre-season training this week with manager Steve Evans working hard behind the scenes to finalise his squad.

With nine new signings already secured, the Millers chief wants to recruit a defender and a ball-playing midfielder to better his options.

Two strikers are also being targeted, one being lined up to join on a long-term and the other on a permanent deal.

Having closed in on one striker last week, Evans was frustrated when the player opted to go elsewhere at the last minute after receiving a better offer.

A request to match it was quickly rebuffed by Rotherham.

Evans warned: "This football club will not be held to ransom. We want honest, focused and highly motivated players only."
