MATCH REPORT: Millers' travel sickness continues at Norwich

DEXTER Blackstock’s first goal for Rotherham United wasn’t enough to save them from a fifth successive defeat at promotion chasers Norwich City or avoid an unwanted record.

Trailing 2-0 midway through the second half, the Millers pulled one back from the substitute only for  Steven Naismith to sentence them to strike for 3-1 near the end.

Despite manfully defending for long periods, Alan Stubbs’ men could have no complaints with the result. It is also the first time they have lost the first six away games of a season as Rotherham United.

The deadlock on 17 minutes. Hoolahan was played in behind the defence and showed good feet to work himself the space to slot past Lee Camp.

It was a story of Norwich pressure either side of the goal.  Cameron Jerome twice had Camp scrambling, Jacon Murphy snatched at a good chance from close range and the Millers were restricted to sporadic attacks. Their two openings saw Izzy Brown foiled by a deflection and Danny Ward stabb a yard wide from Greg Halford’s feed.

The home side picked up the tempo quickly in the second half and threatened several times before Jerome flicked in their second from Hoolahan’s cross just after the hour.

An offside flag denied Jon Taylor a quick reply when he tucked home a rebound from a Will Vaulks thunderbolt but the lifeline soon arrived on 74 minutes. Darnell Fisher was freed down the left and his cross was turned in by Blackstock, fresh on as a substitute.
