Life goes on without Ryan

FIGHT promoter Dave Coldwell says life will go on without Ryan Rhodes after the world title contender this week rang the final bell on his career.

And Coldwell insists it’s time for the new generation of boxers to emerge, starting with his big show at Magna later this month.

Rhodes, now 35, announced he was hanging up his gloves on Wednesday seven years after resurrecting his career at Coldwell’s Rotherham gym.

Said Coldwell: “When Ryan came here seven years ago his career was effectively over, he’d done.

“The doubters said he’d never come back. I remember saying to him that he needed to get the respect back of fight fans and go out and fight for and win British and European titles again.

“Now we’re looking for lads like Nav Mansouri, Chad Gaynor and Maxi Hughes to come through and hopefully they will.”

Coldwell’s next show is at Magna on September 28 with tickets now on sale.
