Following the departure of Ronnie Moore, Liddell took temporary charge of first team affairs before the arrival of Andy Scott in April.

Scott worked with Liddell until the end of the campaign and thanked the former Barnsley and Wigan forward for his efforts.

"I have spoken to Lidds and he understands the situation," said the Millers chief.

"He was fantastic for me last year and the transition for me coming in was seamless because of the work of Lidds and Paul Warne.

"I would like to thank him for his efforts for the club and I know the chairman (Tony Stewart) and Paul Douglas (chief operating officer) were delighted with his work."
