Two tries in a minute in the second half proved decisive, Scottish firstly going 14-13 ahead and then slamming in a second from the restart after James McKinney failed to deal with a clearance kick and the hosts snapped up a cruel rebound.
But it was an otherwise strong performance from Jones' side, their only try coming from Barney Maddison to cancel out an earlier Scottish score. McKinney made amends for his blip by adding the other points from the boot.

Hide AdSaid Jones: “It’s not about applying blame, it’s about making sure we don’t make the same mistakes. If the ball’s catchable, you’ve got to catch it. Simple as that.
“Before that happened we had opportunities to go nine points ahead and we didn’t, so little things can become a factor. The odd bounce can hurt you and it did.”
