Keeper signs new contract

GOALKEEPER Jamie Annerson has signed a new deal at Rotherham United.

The 22-year-old is the first of the six players offered fresh terms by manager Andy Scott to agree to stay on, giving him a chance to become the club's established number one. He's penned a two-year contract.

After starting the campaign as understudy to regular number one Andy Warrington, the former England U19 international forced his way into the side under new boss Scott and has been rewarded for some good performances with an extended deal.

"I am delighted to be extending my stay," said Annerson.

"When I got into the team towards the end of the season I didn't want the season to end, so hopefully I can hit the ground running for when we return for a tough pre-season.

"The club have stood by me and offered me a two-year deal, which on a personal note is very pleasing.

"Once I had broken into the team I really enjoyed it so I am hoping to push on and claim the number one spot again next season."
