Jones confident ahead of Titans' Irish trip

TITANS coach Mark Jones is confident that Rotherham can kickstart their season in Dublin tonight - even though they're up against a Leinster side tipped as potential British and Irish Cup winners.

The Clifton Lane men will fly out this morning for the clash at Donnybrook (7.30pm) and even though they are unlikely to progress through to the quarter-finals, Jones nevertheless sees the game as one they can win. That's despite Leinster currently being top of the pool with a 100 per cent record so far.

"We know that when we get our own game right then we can face up to anybody,” he says. “I’m excited about going to Leinster; they’re quality outfit and are well coached with plenty of pace and power. It will be a good test for us as individuals, to measure ourselves against that calibre of player.

“It’s a great opportunity for the lads to get over into another country, get away from the Championship’s week-to-week challenges and take on a side that really wants to play rugby. They are a really well-rounded team and we’re the only side that’s caused them any trouble, when we were unlucky not to take the points.

“It will also be a good bonding exercise but we’re going there to win the game.”

Leinster were 12-9 victors at the Lane in November, all the points coming from the boot.
