Injured Nav vows to fight back

BOXER Nav Mansouri has vowed to be back in the ring by the end of the year after injury scuppered his big British title shot.

The Rotherham fighter snapped his achilles heel in training last week and had to pull out of this weekend's super welterweight showdown with unbeaten British and Commonwealth champion Liam Williams in London.

While gutted by the setback, Mansouri has already undergone surgery and hopes to be back ready to challenge for a title challenge again in the autumn.

He told the Advertiser: “I think I'll be fit in six or seven months and if I go straight for the title again then I will. It won't bother me who has got it, I will fight them.”

Meanwhile, this week's show has been had to be cancelled while Williams considers his next move.

There's more from Nav Mansouri in this week's Advertiser.
