Hard work continues, says Evans

MILLERS chief Steve Evans is promising to keep his players ticking over so they can hit the ground running after the international break.

They enter their fortnight off from competitive action buoyed by a win over Blackburn and an excellent point at leaders Norwich City on Saturday. Next up is a televised Yorkshire derby with Leeds United at the New York Stadium on Friday week and the intervening period will be used to make sure they stay up to speed.

"I know we've got two weeks without a game but we'll get back on the training ground and work hard," said Evans. "We've also got closed door games booked in to make sure we continue to fire."

Saturday's result kept Rotherham 17th in the Championship and although they had to weather severe pressure, especially in the second half, they had chances on the break to spring an upset. Paul Green's penalty late in the first half was cancelled out by a late equaliser from Cameron Jerome.

Added Evans: "Everyone from Norwich thought we were going to go and pack the midfield but we went 4-4-2 and had a go. It was a great effort from us."
