Green light for stadium

FINAL planning permission is in place after councillors unanimously backed the new Millers stadium yesterday.

All members of Rotherham Borough Council’s planning board voted in favour of the club’s 12,000-seater ground.

Signet Planning managing director Simon Chadwick said: “The design is seeking to provide a facility which is tailor-made to Rotherham United and therefore the town as a whole.

“It is intended to establish a sense of civic pride as well as a modern purpose-built football stadium.”
