Good news, bad news for Millers

IT'S a tale of two Taylors for Rotherham United as Jason Taylor prepares to sign a new contract while Ryan moves closer to the exit door.

Manager Andy Scott expects midfielder Jason to commit his future to the club today by signing a new one-year deal after one or two minor adjustments have been made.

But Ryan looks to have played his last game for his hometown club having refused a new contract.

As reported in the Advertiser last week, Championship outfit Millwall are leading the chase for the 23-year-old, who wants to play at a higher level.

Rotherham are due a fee for him because he is under 24 and the same applies to another player set to be moving on, midfielder Nicky Law.

Scott confirmed the Millers have accepted a fee from another League Two club for the skilful play-maker and had turned down an offer from a League One club which didn't meet their valuation.

The Millers chief said: "Ryan has turned down the contract we have offered him, which wasn't a surprise. We also anticipate that Nicky will be leaving.

"There is a clubs meeting this week so there's an opportunity for our chairman (Tony Stewart) and chief operating officer (Paul Douglas) to speak to the interested clubs about those players."
