Tempers flare between rival supporters at the New York Stadium on Boxing day

Stewards were caught in the middle of a melee as they attempted to keep the supporters apart, with two Stoke City fans appearing to have been injured when falling over several seats after trying to cross the boundary to reach Rotherham followers.

SCENES of football hooliganism took place between rival supporters in Rotherham on Boxing Day. 

Tempers flared between Rotherham United and Stoke fans during their 2-2 draw on Monday at the New York Stadium. 

A video has circulated online showing fans squaring as the game went on. 

Neither Rotherham United or Stoke City responded to a request for comment.
