THE MILLERS (3-5-1-1)

Viktor Johansson: 7

Solid. Neither goal was his fault and unlucky that an excellent second-half save fell to a Cardiff player to continue the chain of events that led to the second goal.

Dexter Lembikisa: 6

Some lovely things, some daft things, some naive things. He's a right-back not a right-sided centre-half and it's asking a lot for him to cover in an unfamiliar role so soon into his Championship career.

Tyler Blackett: 7

One of Rotherham's best and most consistent performers this season. Good again at Cardiff. Not easy having either side of him players who don't really know the centre-half role. Crucial that he stays fit with so many other centre-backs unavailable.

Cohen Bramall: 6

Could have been stronger when Kion Etete did a number on him at the back post for Cardiff's opener but don't forget that he was playing out of position. Other than that, he did pretty well. His pace snuffs out danger at the back and creates it going forward. Not that the Millers got forward until late on.

Fred Onyedinma: 5

The loanee has done well in a Millers shirt so far but winger suits him far more than wing-back. Does all his most effective work in the opposition half and defensive responsibilities curtail his threat.

Ollie Rathbone: 6

One of many good things about the midfielder is that gives everything in every minute of every game even when things aren't particularly going his way. This wasn't one of his better matches yet he still competed from start to finish.

Christ Tiehi: 6

Another player who never stops working. However, this was arguably his quietest display since his summer move.

Sam Clucas: 5

You can see the class of the new boy but he needs more minutes under his belt to consistently show it. A touch laboured at times in this contest. Rotherham need to get him to the international break without him breaking down.

Sebastian Revan: 6

Delivers a good cross and is physically stronger than he looks. Didn't let himself down. Has a lot to learn about playing at this level.

Andre Green: 4

Has quality. Didn't show it enough. That's been the story of his career to a degree. Hard to think of a single telling contribution. Could do with a bit of 'Rathbone' in him.

Jordan Hugill: 4

Poor. Had more effect defending set-pieces than he did asking questions of the home side.

The subs

Sam Nombe (for Hugill 67): 5

A little bit better than in previous cameos but we're still waiting to see any £1-million-plus moments.

Lee Peltier (for Clucas 72): NA

Good to have him back from injury. Made a difference as soon as he came on. The Millers have missed his experience, hard edge and nous. Would have been awarded a 7 had he been on the pitch for longer.

Arvin Appiah (for Revan 72): NA

By the far the best he's been since his arrival. Quick, direct and had a trick in him. Encouraging. The Millers' main attacking force in the closing stages. Another who would have been given a 7 had he played a few more minutes.

Georgie Kelly (for Green 87): NA

No chance to make his mark.

Not used: Dillon Phillips, Tom Eaves, Ciaran McGuckin.

Opposition view

"Today the opponent was staying tight. They tried not to allow many chances in the first half and it wasn't easy to open the defence.

"But when we got the first goal it was much easier to find some other chances. I am satisfied with the performance of my team today.

"It's perfect to have four wins. The last four (league) games, it's going really well. But we can't stop. We have to continue to work hard.

"I have said before, everything has to come together. It's not easy to build something so quickly and we still have to work."
