Fresh CCTV appeal in Rotherham United pitch invasion probe

POLICE have released images of fans they wish to speak with following the pitch invasion after Rotherham United’s match at Gillingham in April.

A large number of supporters ran from the stands after the match, which saw the Millers seal promotion from League One.

But the scenes turned sour with fights breaking out and objects thrown — and Kent Police are still investigating.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers have been reviewing footage from multiple sources and have so far arrested and bailed eight men from Kent on suspicion of public order offences including violent disorder.

“Enquiries have also been carried out with assistance from South Yorkshire Police into alleged offences committed by supporters who entered the field of play from within the Rotherham section of the ground.”
