ROTHERHAM United are targeting a second centre-forward signing after yesterday completing a permanent deal for striker Andre Green.

Green was a free agent and his two-year move to AESSEAL New York Stadium was confirmed in an official announcement at 5pm following his successful trial with the Millers who kick off the new Championship season at Stoke City on Saturday.

Manager Matt Taylor now wants to add even further firepower to his squad before the September 1 close of the summer transfer window.

“We are looking to bring in more players, another centre-forward included,” he told the Advertiser.

The frontmen the club already have at their disposal are Green, Jordan Hugill, Georgie Kelly, Josh Kayode and Tom Eaves.

Former Aston Villa prospect Green, aged 25, had spent the last two seasons in Slovakia with Slovan Bratislava and scored in both his trial matches for Rotherham.

Terms were agreed last week with the Solihull-born player who doesn't require a work permit because he holds a British passport.

He'd been training with the Millers as well as playing against Mansfield Town and Sheffield United.

“He’s shown his quality and I think there is so much more to come from him physically,” Taylor said. “He's a good age, he's got a good physical profile and he can run like the wind.”
