All being well and barring any last minute hitches, Mr Stewart expects to present Stubbs to the press at a 2pm tomorrow (Wednesday) at the New York Stadium.

Forty four-year-old Stubbs - who lifted the Scottish Cup with Hibs just nine days ago - takes over from Neil Warnock, who departed the club after keeping them in the Championship with an 11 match unbeaten run towards the end of last season.

Mr Stewart said: "We've spoken, we've agreed terms and what we are working towards now is agreeing compensation.

"It's the final link in the chain, it's a formality.

"He has signed on a three-year-contract and is a well admired young man in Scotland.

"According to the Scottish press, they think we're very fortunate to get him and he'll be a big loss to Hibs."
