Fight legend comes to town

The former world middleweight champion—portrayed by Robert De Niro in the film Raging Bull—will make a special appearance at Hellaby Hall Hotel next Friday.

He’ll talk about his famous—and infamous—exploits in the ring, which included becoming the first man to beat Sugar Ray Robinson.

The night is being staged by Rotherham promoter Mick Mangham, who is delighted with the coup.

He said: “It’ll be a pretty special night and it’s the only one of three appearances Jake is making as part of his tour and the only one in the north.”
