Evans happy with Revell deal

MANAGER Steve Evans says Alex Revell's move to Cardiff City represents a good piece of business for Rotherham United.

The fans' favourite and two-goal hero from last season's League One play-off final was due to sign for the Bluebirds last night, subject to a medical, ending a three-and-a-half year career with the Millers.

The move, for an undisclosed fee, but understood to be in the region of £400,000, follows long negotiations over a new contract that ended with the player making it clear he would not re-sign.

With his contract up in the summer and Rotherham risking losing him for nothing, a move became inevitable and Cardiff's offer was one that couldn't realistically be refused.

Evans said: "It's a terrific deal for someone who will be 32 in the summer. The football club has been in negotiations with Alex's representatives for the best part of seven months over a contract extension.

“A few weeks ago the negotiations ended and Alex made it clear he would not sign and would listen to offers from elsewhere.

“Alex goes with my best wishes. I could not have been a Championship manager if it wasn't for him, not just because of his two goals at Wembley but his performances all the way through last season."
