Evans' derby wish

MANAGER Steve Evans wants football to be the winner when Rotherham United meet old foes Sheffield Wednesday tonight.

The Capital One Cup first-round tie brings the two together for the first time in five years and the Millers chief hopes the entertainment to lives up to the occasion.

He told the Advertiser: "It's a fantastic honour to have Sheffield Wednesday here in a cup tie. They are a huge club with proud traditions and a top manager and staff.

"I've seen them twice in pre-season and they're exciting to watch. They've got pace and power and Dave Jones has a set system they'll play.

"It's going to be a fantastic evening, from the build-up at 3 or 4 o'clock when the fans start appearing. Let football be the winner and let it be a South Yorkshire everyone remembers."

Wednesday have won seven of their last nine visits to Rotherham but the Millers have had the upper hand in recent meetings, winning three of the last five.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.
