'Derbyshire will come good'

MATT Derbyshire can put a bad afternoon at the New York Stadium behind him and come good again.

That's the view of Rotherham United manager Steve Evans on his summer signing from Nottingham Forest.

Derbyshire (28) has come in for stick for fluffing poorly in front of goal against Brentford last time out.

The missed opportunities proved costly as the visitors pulled away to win but, says Evans, they don't mean he has become a bad player overnight.

“He missed two chances and some people want to write the kid off. You don't score goals unless you miss chances,” said Evans.

“I have no doubt that if we make a chance to win in future, Matt will take it.

“We are not going to lose faith in a player just because he misses a couple of chances, we all have bad days.”
