Curtis lifts English title

RING warrior Curtis Woodhouse re-established his quest for domestic boxing glory with a gutsy and determined performance to capture the vacant English Light-Welterweight title.

It was a hard-fought win in front of a packed house at Magna on Friday and just reward for months of hard work following a devastating loss to Dale Miles last time out.

“It doesn’t feel real that I’m the champion of England,” he said.

“I felt I did enough to win the fight," he said.

"I put him down in the third, was hurt myself in the second and felt I was on the waltzer, but I put him down in the third and caught him nice — I didn't think he was getting up.

"He is a tough kid, it was a great fight and a tough day at the office. I'll have to ask  Dave Coldwell for an easy one next time!"

Woodhouse returned to the ring for the first time since his devastating fifth round knockout defeat at the hands of Miles in June’s British title eliminator. He put that heartbreak firmly behind him and bounced back in style to capture the English strap, a belt he has coveted since embarking on his professional ring career.
