Controversial goal sinks Millers

ROTHERHAM United fell to a controversial last gasp defeat at Bradford City tonight.

Substitute Tom Adeyemi’s long-range shot hit the bar and was adjudged to have bounced down over the line by linesman Richard Clark, to the astonishment of Millers players.

Despite furious protests the effort deep in injury time was allowed to stand and City nicked the tightest of 2-1 wins to dent Rotherham's League Two promotion push.

They had what looked a certain penalty turned down early on when Liam Henderson was upended by defender Steve Williams and the hosts survived the scare to take the lead on 16 minutes when Lewis Hunt played a one-two with Scott Dobie on the right and closed in to beat Andy Warrington at his near post.

Marcus Marshall equalised eight minutes before half time, getting his head to a measured cross from Ryan Taylor.

The woodwork was rattled twice in as many minutes in an end-to-end second half through Millers defender Callum Kennedy and Jake Speight before City grabbed their late, late winner.

Top scorer Adam Le Fondre was not part of the Rotherham line-up.
