Chairman not scared to spend

CHAIRMAN Tony Stewart says he is still prepared to smash the £1 million barrier to get the right player for Rotherham United.

The club still needs around half a dozen new faces before the transfer window shuts at the end of August and officials are in advanced discussions with several players.

In an Advertiser special this week, Mr Stewart and chief operating officer Paul Douglas have answered some of the questions posed by worried supporters.

But the Millers chief, who was prepared to pay £1.4 million for Millwall's Lee Gregory, says he won't he afraid to spend big again for the right man.

“We have money to spend and we will spend it wisely, whether it is £1 million or £2 million,” he said. “With the right guy we are prepared to invest but at the moment we're still looking for value for money."

The Millers host Premier League Sunderland in a friendly tomorrow (3pm).
