Chairman delighted with stadium response

CHAIRMAN Tony Stewart is delighted with the response to the Millers' new stadium plans.

The unveiling of the exciting final images of the £20 million complex on the Guest and Chrimes site attracted national as well as regional media attention last week.

They were also warmly greeted by fans, many of whom chanted Mr Stewart's name during Saturday's win at Burton Albion.

The Millers chief, who has been a driving force behind the project since the club left its previous home at Millmoor for Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium, said: "We've had a lot of feedback from the supporters and it is clear that they are gagging for this as much as we are.

"They see light at the end of the tunnel and at this time of doom and despondency it's something to look forward to.

"As we've said, the stadium will do a lot for the town. It will turn heads and people will come in and have a look."

With the Millers planning to be in their new home for the start of the 2012/13 season, the onus is now on the team to to provide a higher grade of football by opening time.

"All the talking has been done. The players now have to show they want it as much as we do," added Mr Stewart.

"We want to be in a higher division, with different clubs and different challenges."
