HE'S not yet turned 21 and already David Wong has a county boxing crown under his belt.

The toughie from Rotherham's Millennium Boxing Gym won the Yorkshire ABA senior novice 60kg novice title with a landslide points win over Leeds boxer D. Peacock.

Wong won 13-0 on points over the three two-minute minute rounds, adding to a thumping knockout of Keighley boxer M. Jaleel in the semi-final.

The Rotherham man forced a standing count in the third round of that contest and then moved in to KO his opponent with a stunning right cross.

The good work was partly the result of some quality sparring sessions with fellow Millennium prospects Chad Gaynor and Martin Shaw. Wong has also been in the ring with British super featherweight champion Gary Sykes.

Proud trainer Jamie Kennedy said: "We've been working on points scoring boxing and David took control of both fights with some quality straight shots.

"He's through to the national finals now in the Midlands at the end of this month and I think he can go all the way and win."

Jamie also plans to enter Wong in the full senior ABAs next year.
