Ben races to victory

CYCLIST Ben Swift sprinted to victory in the final stage of the Tour of Castilla y Leon in Spain.

The North Anston speedster narrowly defeated home favourites Francisco Ventoso and Ruben Perez in a compelling finish after a gruelling 167km ride last Sunday.

The last stage was dominated by his Team Sky colleagues, most notably Alex Dowsett, who was at the front of the pack for much of the race.

However, he tried and failed to breakaway, leaving it for Swift to fight it out with Ventoso and Perez.

The victory was Swift’s first stage win since he took two stages in the Tour Down Under in Australia in January.
