Most clubs complete their match programmes in autumn long before the winter and the cold weather begins. There is one outstanding difference, Rotherham 65'ers. A club whose members are all 65 years, or more, old, and which fishes exclusively throughout the winter rather than the summer. And as if to demonstrate just what can be achieved, their turn out is second to none, Walkley excluded. Last week saw twenty-four members fishing at Hayfield on the Big Adam's and Island Lakes. Paul Rees was the match winner with a weight of 57lbs 1oz from peg 26 on the Island Lake. Vic Rusby, at 60 on the same lake was second with 53lbs 10ozs which left Robin Goforth in third place with 53lbs 7ozs and Steve Roe in fourth with 47lbs 5ozs. Section winners were Derek Oldfield, 36lbs 8ozs, Paul Wainwright, 32lbs 15ozs, Billy Meadows, 32lbs 4ozs and Rob Sloan 38lbs 6ozs.

A busy week at Woodhouse Grange where Sean O'Malley won Tuesday's match on the Heron Lake with 79lbs 8ozs. Pete Clarke was second with 64lbs and Kev Wilson third with 58lbs 10ozs.

Jess King was the winner of Wednesday's event fished on the Dog Kennel Lake with 70lbs 8ozs. Kev Goldenberg took the second place with 55lbs 12ozs and Ian Hanson the third with 48lbs 4ozs.
