Adams to the rescue for Millers

SUSBSTITUTE Nicky Adams rescued a point for Rotherham United with a late equaliser against ten-man Walsall at the New York Stadium.

Adams crashed a shot in off the crossbar to make it 1-1 after Milan Lalkovic’s first-half strike had looked like earning the visitors their first win in nine matches.

Getting plenty of men behind the ball, they frustrated Rotherham for long periods and led on 19 minutes when a neat move put Lalkovic through to clip the ball past Adam Collin.

After Kari Arnason headed a great chance over soon after half time, the match took a turn on 74 minutes when Ben Purkiss was dismissed for a second bookable offence.

With the man advantage, the Millers upped the pressure and Adams’ first goal for the club since his January move from Crawley on 88 minutes set up a big finish but Walsall hung on.

Rotherham’s unbeaten run now stretches to 12 games.
