What’s the problem with middle lane driving?

I AM very interested to know, why the sudden castigation of motorists who tend to use the middle lane on motorways?

I am still astonished at the amount of drivers I see in general using mobile phones and especially more so texting. This goes for the nine out of 10 lorry drivers I see texting on the M18 between Hellaby and Howden — most are completely oblivious they have been seen or care! Also there are drivers joining up with the motorway are frequently using mobiles.

Just stand at Worrygoose island for five minutes and see how many drivers are using their mobiles whilst negotiating the island!

On far too many occasions, we have had several incidents of ‘getting out of the way’ of texters coming towards us from the other direction with no regard whatsoever for the safety of other drivers. These very selfish people care little for anyone — how long has using a mobile phone whilst driving been illegal? And it is just not getting through to these people at all.

Why would anyone want to be weaving in and out to the first lane on a motorway with all these irresponsible halfwits there?

The speed limit on the motorway is 70mph and the third lane is actually for overtaking.

There aren’t many people who stick to the speed limit either and I haven’t seen anyone being chased by a police car. So can anyone explain why the problem with the middle lane driver who is doing 70mph?
