Roundabout concerns

I AM writing to you in desperation in the hope that you can help to resolve a parking issue on Herringthorpe Valley Road, between the Stag and Worrygoose Island roundabouts.

At the moment parking is allowed on one side of the road approaching the Stag roundabout. However, during the day it is virtually impossible to pull out of our driveways safely as you often cannot see vehicles approaching due to the many parked cars.

Although there is a 40 mph speed limit many drivers exceed this and it is inevitable that there will be a serious accident one day. In addition many drivers regularly park encroaching on residents driveways forcing us to pull right out into the road before we can turn.

I have emailed the local council regularly with this problem, but they refuse to consider prohibiting parking on the road. I appreciate that this could affect the local businesses at the Stag roundabout, but I’m sure alternative parking could be found off the main road.

This could help prevent a serious accident and maybe save somebody’s life in the future.
